O Organics
Exclusively at Shaw’s, O Organics is designed for anyone interested in maintaining and living an organic lifestyle; O Organics is designed for you and your family. Don’t just take our word for it, this line of goods earned the official USDA Organic Certified stamp of approval – a rigorous, and rewarding process to say the least. It all starts with carefully selecting producers who meet our extremely high standards for organic farming, and only partnering with those who share our commitment to sustainable practices, while promising to never use synthetic pesticides, herbicides, and antibiotics.

We know that the great taste of food is just as important as the way it’s grown and produced. With O Organics, you can rest-assured that the taste of our products is just as exceptional, and as trust-worthy as the source in which it’s derived.

Open Nature
Nature has nothing to hide, neither should your food. That’s the core belief behind this line of real food made without preservatives, free of artificial colors and artificial flavors. Open Nature uses only natural ingredients from natural sources across their entire line of goods we offer within your local Shaw’s. So don’t be surprised to see the ingredients listed front and center on all their product packaging.

We’re all about delicious flavor, straight from nature, and we’re thrilled to begin offering Open Nature to you and your family within your local Shaw’s.

Look forward to trying this brand.

  3. Glenna 22/07/2015 at 2:11 pm

But do they list GMOs also? I know that HR1955 is being discussed to take any listing of GMos off products which I don’t think is right for the consumer who wishes not to ingest these products> Even if product is listed organic/natural could still be genetically modified and OK by Law.

Hi Glenna, we appreciate your views. Please know that we defer to the FDA’s role and responsibility when it comes to labeling GMO. ~Shasta

I am seeing some of the Open Nature meats, like chicken thighs, at my local Shaws. Is it possible to find out who supplies this meat so that their adherence to humane practices can be evaluated? Are these Open Nature meats grass fed and finished (when beef), vegetarian raised (when chicken), etc? Thanks for your time.

    • Daniel Daniel 22/07/2015 at 9:05 pm

Hi Bill – Thanks for your questions. Perdue is our supplier of Open Nature Chicken. Open Nature Beef is 100% Grass Fed thru to harvest. Open Nature Chicken is vegetarian raised. I hope this helps. Thanks ~ Dan

I am so thrilled to be able to have a bigger selection. I think this is a very smart business move. As a breast cancer survivor, I try to eat clean as much as possible. I am willing to pay a bit more if it is better for me and my family.

    • Daniel Daniel 22/07/2015 at 4:09 pm

Pam – Thank you for taking the time to write to us. We’re extremely appreciative that you choose to shop with us, and we’re happy to support your healthy lifestyle choice. Thank you ~ Dan

Are the items listed the only ones available? I’m very interested in more coffee options- fair trade etc. This is a fantastic start though! Absolutely switching to Shaw’s.

    • Daniel Daniel 22/07/2015 at 4:06 pm

Hi Dawna – New Open Nature and O Organic items will continue to be introduced throughout the year. There are a number of items in addition to the ones you see featured on this page. We hope you enjoy them all! ~ Dan

  9. Mary 22/07/2015 at 4:39 pm

Are these brands GMO free? It is very possible to have a GMO food and grow it organically. I look for that NON-GMO seal when I buy organic foods.

Wehave a Wild Harvest section in our Shaws. Is that where we would find these products or in regular aisles?

    • Daniel Daniel 22/07/2015 at 9:10 pm

Hi Joyce – These items will remain in our Natural and Organic section, however the name will no longer be Wild Harvest. Additionally, the meat department and produce, items will be in their designated departments, but will have packaging with their Open Nature and O Organic branding. Thanks! ~ Dan

Burn down traditional food processors and distribution. Power to the local system. Power to the people- right on! Thanks Shaws, can’t wait.

  13. Durelle 22/07/2015 at 8:27 pm

I saw the organic cottage cheese but being lactose miss not having Lactaid cottage cheese. Will you carry it again? Also, lactose free Yoplait yogurt although I do like the Green Mountain Creamery brand with a lactaid pill. Will you carry Yoplait lactose free yogurt again? I will be trying more organic brands.

    • Daniel Daniel 23/07/2015 at 12:56 am

Hi Durelle – Thanks for your feedback. I’ve shared your request with our merchandising team. Please let us know which store you shop at. Thanks ~ Dan

    • Daniel Daniel 23/07/2015 at 8:41 pm

Hi Durelle – Unfortunately, Lactose free Yoplait yogurt was discontinued. I have let our merchandising team know about your request though. Lactaid Cottage Cheese is available at all of our stores. If you do not see it in stock, you may speak to a grocery or store director and ask for it to be ordered. Thanks! ~ Dan

  14. James Ring 22/07/2015 at 9:23 pm

Are you stating that the use of natural is organic? I have no interest in any products that are not organic. Help me out do you have a list of organic food? That is all I eat.

    • Daniel Daniel 23/07/2015 at 12:53 am

Hello James – We are not saying the use of natural is organic. We are saying that we now carry a Natural Food brand and a separate Organic brand. While we don’t have a list of the Organic items, please look for the O Organic brand label as you shop our stores. More items will be added throughout the year! Thank you ~ Dan

  15. Carmen Dyer 22/07/2015 at 10:44 pm

I’m sensitive to wheat, gluten, milk, sugar and high sodium, plus garlic & onions are a few…
Will these products be suitable for someone like me. I love my Shaw’s and have shopped there since the early 50″s Thanks for making my shopping easier.

    • Daniel Daniel 23/07/2015 at 12:54 am

Hi Carmen – Our new brands are a Natural Food and an Organic Food brand. We always encourage our customers to read the label and when in doubt contact your doctor or nutritionist with questions. Thank you ~ Dan

  16. Tinyd641 22/07/2015 at 10:52 pm

I’m glad your carrying more Organics. I tried the O coffee you had on sale last week and was pleased. I look at the organic produce and see it’s a catch 22. It sits on the shelf and gets old because not enough people are buying, but I often don’t buy produce because it’s been sitting too long. I’ve asked the last couple of times if they’d consider marking the produce down, but was told they can’t do that. I live in Hanover MA, and find it a crying shame they rather throw it away rather than get something for it. Sorry for being long winded, but it seems like someone is actually reading the posts. I hope someone will take a look at this situation. Thank you.

    • Daniel Daniel 23/07/2015 at 12:51 am

Hi Tinyd641 – Thanks for trying our new O Organic Coffee! We also appreciate your feedback. While we don’t reduce the cost of our ‘old’ produce, we do attempt to put it aside at our stores for local farmers. Again, thank you for your feedback – I’ll be sure to pass along your concerns with the appropriate personnel. ~ Dan

I tried some of the Open Nature Pistachio gelato last week and really enjoyed it. It was loaded with nuts and had a smooth texture. I like the all natural ingredients. Thanks for bringing in some new and exciting products. I have been a “Shaw’s” customer dating back to the Iandoli ownership back in the 60s’.

  18. Dianne 23/07/2015 at 9:09 am

I have been struggling with weight & also have Kidney Disease which so far is stable .
I try to stay away from as many chemicals .
as possible ,so for me the price of Organic foods is cheap compared to the alternative .
The more people catch on the prices will start to come down, Invest in your health!!

Thank you for adding more organic food to your store. It is a shame to our country that all food offered to the people has to be separated into categories. All food offered for sale should be safe for consumption.
Your Naturally Sourced food are an example of foods that are more deceptive, not an example of safe foods. I’m sure you know that the FDA is not a reliable source for labeling food safely. Your chicken from Perdue. They do not treat their chickens humanely and the word NATURAL no longer has a meaning in the food world. Any food can be passed off as NATURAL by FDA standards even if it is A GMO.

Do you carry an organic, unsweetend almond milk?

    • Customer Care Customer Care 23/07/2015 at 9:22 pm

We do, Christine! Due to some problems with almond crop availability, we don’t have a sufficient supply right now though. We expect to have more inventory in September. ~Mikayla

I appreciate having more choices in Shaws organic foods and I know people will purchase more as they become educated on the chemicals and toxic ingredients in many of the processed foods today. I also thought harmful ingredients would not be allowed in foods by the FDA but found it does not watch out for the public as it does for corporations, similar to congress which passes laws that are bought, like Monsanto’s DARK which just passed by
congress. That law is not for the peoples
choice of having ingredients labeled. Monsanto knows if people have a choice they will not buy GMO products. Grocery stores also know this and have not supported labeling GMO’s. Over time GMO’s destroy the intestines ability to digest food and assimilate causing many health conditions. Only following FDA guidelines is not a good idea today if you want to be healthy, in time they will adjust and become concerned with the publics wishes, as many stand up to make changes. Seeing Shaws take steps forward to attract the health conscious public is appreciated and applauded. There is nothing natural about factory farming it is the most unhealthy, toxic and non humane way to produce food and needs to be changed.
