Making a list, checking it twice
There are so many details to remember when planning an event.
So here's an idea: Mentally walk through the party first. Is there
a place to hang your coat? Are there enough napkins by the bar?
Is there plenty of food to go around? Here's a list to help you
remember the little things that make a big difference.
Parking and transportation arrangements for both before
and
after the event (valet attendants, garage passes, buses,
vans
or taxi service)
Coat rack or coat room
Powder room supplies - toilet paper, hand towels,
soaps
Cleaning supplies for before and after - paper towels,
dishwashing soap, garbage bags, and club soda or a
commercial stain remover
Candles and matches
Flowers or balloons for the room and/or tables
Ice, ice bucket and tongs
Wine, beer and soft drinks (chilled)
Liquor and mixers, if desired
Bottle openers
Napkins - cocktail and dinner
Plates for appetizers, salad, dinner and dessert
Flatware for all courses plus spoons for coffee
Glasses for water, wine, mixed drinks, beer, soft
drinks
and/or coffee
Coffee and tea bags, cream and sugar, sweeteners
and milk
Party favors
Film for the camera or batteries for the video camera
If
you are going to be outside:
Check the propane
tank or charcoal supply
Lighter fuel or matches
Insect repellant
Citronella candles
Separate platters and utensils for raw and cooked
meat
Check on outdoor lighting and speakers as well as restroom
facilities
